Background & History
Maxifren was established as a division of B&U Holdings (Pty) Ltd in the Western Cape in 2005 and expanded into Gauteng 5 years later after B&U was appointed as the exclusive distributor of Ferodo Commercial Vehicle Brake linings in South Africa and some neighboring countries. In 2015 Maxifren was acquired from B&U by Africa Automotive Aftermarket Solutions, a division of the Imperial Group.
Senior management in Maxifren have in excess of 70 years’ experience in the brake and clutch industry, an achievement we are very proud of. We believe our business is about people and relationships and we have an excellent blend of youth and experience on our team.
When B&U Holdings acquired the exclusive distribution rights of Ferodo Commercial Vehicle Brake Linings in 2010 they also acquired the name Ferobrake and gave Maxifren the mandate to manage and market the name Ferobrake (see more on Ferobrake in the Brands tab). Marketing of the Ferobrake brand is being rolled out and will remain a priority for Maxifren into the future. This distribution right was also part of the acquisition by Africa Automotive Aftermarket Solutions.
We are also very proud of our association with several Original Equipment brands such as Ferodo and Sachs. Wherever possible we align ourselves with International brands that are well respected in our market, and on some occasions we complement their offer with our own imported range, such as Covata Clutch Systems which was introduced in 2013 to cater for the market that do not specify original equipment replacement clutches.
Please Note: Maxifren does not sell directly to the public.
